Arenas can be built on any type of ground, as long as great care is given to the drainage infrastructure. Firstly, the arena will be levelled, using a cut and fill method. Any overburden can either be removed from the area, or used to form banking surrounding the arena. Next, the drainage structure will be formed and backfilled with uniform sized stone, as a sand arena without sufficient drainage will be of no use in a wet summer or winter. A layer of crushed rock is then put down, and covered by a layer of geotextile membrane, enabling your arena to take years of pounding from your equine friends. |

Horse Exercise Arenas |

The benefits of having an arena speak for themselves, allowing you and your horse to work in safety and comfort, without poaching up precious grazing land. A level surface will allow your horse to remain in balance and maintain the rhythm required. |

Finally, the sand is brought in, and laid to a minimum depth of 4". This will allow your horse to be working in comfort without floundering in heavy deep sand. Timber edging of your choice can be supplied and fitted, and we can arrange for fencing of your choice to be erected. Arrangements can also be made for you to visit various past clients, who are only too delighted to let you view their arenas. George Walker, ex professional Show Jumper and trainer of both riding and carriage horses had an arena constructed - "We needed a new arena to work in, but at the end of the day, we have to make a living from our horses, so price was very important. We also required a surface that would stand up to the rigours of everyday use. R J Plant did a fantastic job for us, at a very reasonable price".
